EA Sports has posted a new Madden Ultimate Team blog on its web page, detailing what’s to come in Week 10. There’s a lot included there, so please continue reading this post. It’s a whole lot to take in, but if you’re a football fan, it’s worth it!
“Hey everybody –
I’m Josh Looman, the lead designer of Ultimate Team, back with the Ultimate Team additions blog going into the 10th week of the NFL season.
This week we’re releasing our second dynamic tournament and a great new collection. We’ve also got another big promotion coming this weekend, which is geared toward those of you that don’t buy a ton of Ultimate Packs.
Now on to the updates…
Each week we’ll be blogging about the new additions to the game that we’re releasing and most of the weeks you’ll be getting the following:
– At least one brand new fantasy football weekly leader player that honors the top fantasy football performance from the previous week in the NFL.
– At least one new collection.
– Possibly one new insert, which could include an elite or legendary player.
– Possibly some new 2nd or 3rd edition players, which is our way of delivering roster updates in Ultimate Team.
Here is a breakdown on this week’s additions:
New Fantasy Football Weekly Leaders
Week Nine: Chargers QB Philip Rivers
Rivers turned in the performance of the year in Week 9, throwing for 295 yards and four touchdowns.
Normally, that would be a great game…but this wasn’t under normal circumstances.
Rivers was playing without his best offensive weapon in Antonio Gates and without both of his starting WRs.
Rivers is the highest scoring player in most fantasy football leagues this season and he’s already thrown for 2,944 passing yards and 19 touchdowns.
To honor his fantastic week, we are releasing his new fantasy football weekly player in Gold, Platinum and Ultimate packs.
Week Nine: Browns HB Peyton Hillis
Hillis led all HBs with 29 carries and 184 yards on Sunday, carrying the Browns to a huge victory over the Patriots.
To honor his fantastic week, we are releasing his new fantasy football weekly player in Gold, Platinum and Ultimate packs.
New Collection
Each week, we’ll try to release at least one new collection in the game.
We are releasing one new collection this week.
It is:
Week 10 NFC Starting HBs
This new collection features the 16 HBs that are starting for their NFC teams in Week 10.
The rewards for this collection?
500,000 coins and this elite player that can only be found by completing the collection:
Hint: This Peterson has a much easier time holding on to the ball.
New Dynamic Tournament
Each week, we’ll try to release at least one new tournament in the game.
We are releasing one new tournament this week.
It is:
Giants Offense Tournament
In honor of the best team in the NFC, we are releasing this new five round tournament.
This is the first tournament that will reward you with a player for finishing the fifth and final round.
If you win every round of the tournament, you’ll receive 30,000 coins and a rare gold player.
The tournament requires you to have Gold Eli Manning, 2nd Edition Gold Hakeem Nicks and 3rd Edition Gold Ahmad Bradshaw to enter.
If you are forced to restart the tournament due to a loss or quitting, you’ll get fewer coins per round every time you restart.
3rd Edition, 2nd Edition and New Players
Today we’re also releasing additional 2nd and 3rd edition players in Ultimate Team.
Players earn a 2nd or 3rd edition if there is a significant difference in their overall rating when comparing the latest Madden NFL 11 roster update to the player’s current ratings in Ultimate Team or if they change teams during the season.
You can always tell when a player is 2nd or 3rd edition by looking at the icon that is displayed next to the player position on the front.
Here are two of the 2nd and 3rd edition players we are releasing today:
Mystery Promotion
This weekend we’ll be running another promotion. Stay tuned to Twitter for any news before it starts on Friday.
Well, that’s all for the updates this week.
As I mentioned last week, we’ll release a new blog each week detailing the new players or collections released in the game.
We’ll also continue to support the game for the rest of the season, so stay tuned for news about improvements down the road.
